Life has been more than a little hectic the last few months. It’s a very good hectic, though. Sorry for traveling back in time, but I want to capture the highlights of this year.
I took some time off work in May. We crammed in a lot in just a few days. We started by visiting Scott’s brother and his family. We were able to see his niece and nephew perform in a acrobatic act. Lily and Zeke were so excited whenever they saw Alexis and Logan out on the stage.
Scott’s mom was also in town. She treated Alexis and Lily to a sleepover in her hotel room. Lily was so excited! She wanted to sleep in the same bed as Alexis, but I worried. Lily loves to cuddle, to the point of strangling. I asked Alexis if she would be okay sharing a bed with Lily. She replied very hipply (she’s 11) “yeah”. I then added, “she tends to cuddle in her sleep.” Alexis replied, “I do too.” Then I added “she cuddles to the point of strangling.” Alexis, “Yeah, I do too!” I loved it!
And luckily, neither Lily or Alexis strangled each other in the night.
Our next stop was the Columbia River Temple. Scott and I were married there, but haven’t been back since. I wanted to take the kids there and have this nice spiritual moment while we walked around the temple . . . That didn’t happen.
We made it to the temple. But the kids were tired of being in the car, and really just wanted to run around. The idea of standing still for family pictures was torture to them. We managed to get a few not so terrible photos.
And here are some of the not so great photos:
Our last stop was to see my grandma. I love this woman so much. She always expresses her gratitude, regardless of how uncomfortable she is. The kids loved it when the doggy wandered into Grandma’s room and they got to pet him. And Grandma got a kick out of watching the kids play together while we visited with her.
I also took Scott, Lily, and Zeke to the cemetery to see my grandpa’s grave. It was a few days before Memorial Day, so we cleaned the headstone for Grandma. Lily and Zeke were great little helpers.
