Tea Party

003

So today Candice had promised Lily a tea party before she went off to work. Well in the end, she didn’t have time and had to run out the door. Unfortunately, Lily was very sad to miss out on tea with mom. So I, being the smart guy that I am, decided that I could have tea with her instead. She was so excited to have tea with her daddy, so she told me where I needed to sit and what I needed to do. Then she invited Zeke to join us. Soon enough, tea time became dress up time. Hence the lovely picture. Lily put a necklace on my head and told me I was a queen. Then she put plastic chains on my ears as earrings. I have Candice to thank for this one!

Lily was actually the one to take the picture. She did a really great job!

Taking advantage of the warm weather

005

Last week was our first full week of warm summer weather. It has been so cold here, the coldest summer that I can remember (I’m jealous of the heat spell on the east coast).

I decided to take advantage of the warm weather by having a picnic in our backyard, hot dogs and smores. Lily and Zeke were very excited, mostly Lily though.

A neighbor girl always likes to show up whenever we start doing anything outside. Of course she wanted to join in on the fun, so I had to go inside the house and make some more food for her. Somehow I always end up babysitting the neighborhood kids. How does this happen?

Geocaching with a bunch of monkeys

002 We took the kids geocaching again, which is always one of our favorite family activities. This forest was gorgeous. Gotta love the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. Lily loves pretending that we’re hunting for pirate’s treasure.

Here’s Lily giving her best impressions of a monkey. These pictures make me laugh.

What a patient brother. Hope it lasts!

002  Poor Zeke! Lily loves him so much and always wants to play with him and share her toys.

While Zeke was sitting up at the table, Lily decided to give him her play food. She just kept stuffing her food in his arms and into the cracks of his seat. He was so patient and didn’t mind at all. When I finally noticed what she had been doing, I thought it was so funny that I had to take a picture. Lily wanted to be in it too. Some of the veggies fell before I could take the picture. He had been stuffed with more.

Here they are making their best silly faces.

A day at the park

A friend at church told me about a fun park that isn’t too far away. Last week, we decided to check it out.

Lily loved the animals. She greeted each one with a “hello.”

The playground wasn’t very big, nor was it very safe, so we found other ways to amuse ourselves. And there was plenty of amusement to go around. Lily and Scott had fun climbing the water tower together. Lily played around at the top of it. She danced, and pretended to be scared.

005007 015They also found a cool hang out among some tall trees and bushes. It was a network of tunnels that they called a cave. They played hide-n-seek for awhile in there.

Then we went geocaching and got eaten by mosquitoes. Luckily, we found “the treasure” before the pirates did. (That’s what we tell Lily.) So I tried to get Lily to act like a pirate (hence the dorky picture).

We found other cool things on our walk: a fragrance garden, lily pads, tadpoles, frogs, scarecrows, and a children’s garden. We’ll definitely need to come back.
