A friend at church told me about a fun park that isn’t too far away. Last week, we decided to check it out.
Lily loved the animals. She greeted each one with a “hello.”
The playground wasn’t very big, nor was it very safe, so we found other ways to amuse ourselves. And there was plenty of amusement to go around. Lily and Scott had fun climbing the water tower together. Lily played around at the top of it. She danced, and pretended to be scared.
They also found a cool hang out among some tall trees and bushes. It was a network of tunnels that they called a cave. They played hide-n-seek for awhile in there.
Then we went geocaching and got eaten by mosquitoes. Luckily, we found “the treasure” before the pirates did. (That’s what we tell Lily.) So I tried to get Lily to act like a pirate (hence the dorky picture).
We found other cool things on our walk: a fragrance garden, lily pads, tadpoles, frogs, scarecrows, and a children’s garden. We’ll definitely need to come back.

You know, I was going to ask you if you remember a park that wasn't too far from the area we lived in Redmond. I want to say something like McWhitter or McWhorter? It had farm animals and tire swings and this huge tower you could climb. There were trails and creeks and bridges. We have a home movie of it but I don't remember what it was called. I thought you might know or remember.
Looks like you had a wonderful day! The park sounds really neat!
Rachel, the park's name is Farrell McWhirter Park. It hasn't changed much over the years. If you ever come up this way, we should have a picnic there. Sophie would love it!
Is that Hovander Park?
