The Ballet

Ever since Scott took me to the ballet in December, I keep thinking about it:

JCRJ08 0327I LOVE IT!  (I love to watch it.)  But it’s not Scott’s thing, so he really doesn’t want to go again.  And that’s okay.  So now I just need to find a friend (or mom or sister . . . hint, hint) that also wants to go to the ballet.

(But we’ll have to wait until next year when I can afford a nice seat.)

Reasons to Smile

14 DAYS!

That’s how many days until Scott graduates.

Lily cracks me up on a daily basis.  Today she made a bed out of the laundry basket.

Grandpa's Painting 01

My Grandpa’s painting.  I see it everyday, and it just makes me smile.

My new Zolo black sling.  They cost $79 brand new, but I got mine for $5 on craigslist.  I love bargains!  (Plus, Scott said he’ll actually use a sling in public if I bought a black one!)

Zeke’s blessing

Today was a special day for our family.  Scott gave Zeke a wonderful blessing at church, with the help of my dad, brother, and uncle.  Lillian, a good family friend, made a beautiful blanket for Zeke’s blessing day.  (She made one for Lily on her blessing day, too.)

We’re so grateful for everyone that woke-up extra early and made the hour to hour-and-a-half drive to attend 9 am church with us:

A friend at church even arranged a special surprise for us.  She invited my aunt and uncle (Joan & Rees) to visit her this weekend so that they could also attend Zeke’s blessing.  (Joan is her “best friend in the whole world.”)

My workout buddy

Disclaimer: I intended to exercise, not be photographed.  Scott grabbed the camera while I was exercising, so please excuse the fact that I had not showered, or even brushed my hair for the day.

I decided that it was time to start exercising again.  Lily grabbed her big ball, and decided to join in on the fun:

To plan or not to plan

95% of people that read this blog know that I’m a planner (the other 5% have never met me).  Some even know that I make lists . . . lots of lists.  In fact, I feel lost without my lists.  Scott always teases me about all my lists (yes, there’s always multiple lists).

One thing being married to Scott is teaching me is how to be more spontaneous.  Take yesterday for example . . . I had crossed off a lot of the to do’s on my list and had a plan of how to finish the rest of my list by night’s end: (1) make dinner during Lily’s nap so that I could play outside with her while dinner baked, (2) fold all 6 loads of laundry while Lily watched Beauty and the Beast after dinner, (3) clean the upstairs bathroom while Lily bathes, (4) do the dishes after Lily’s in bed.  It was a perfect plan, all be it a boring plan  . . . until Scott called on his way home from school.

Scott suggested we go to Chuck E. Cheese for pizza and games.  (The boring planner and list maker in me wanted to say “No.”)  When I asked Lily if she wanted to go, her face just lit up!  How could I be the grim reaper?  So I relented (and I’m glad I did).

Lily was so excited to see Chuck E. that she even forgot to be shy!  She gave him a high five, and stood by him for a picture.  Way to go Lily!  (This was the highlight of the visit for Lily.)

Look a Likes

Everyone always asks who the baby looks like.  Here are our baby photos (me, Zeke, Scott):

To be honest, Zeke looks a lot like my dad.  I wish I had a copy of my dad’s baby photo to post, but the only baby photo I’ve ever seen of my dad is in Grandma’s bedroom.  Zeke has even inherited my dad’s infamous scowl.  (How is it that we all inherited that one?)

Zeke 1 month 006Well, when we went to visit my parents’ yesterday, I couldn’t resist this photo opportunity:   Zeke 1 month 002

This is going to be one of my favorite photos of all time. Thanks Dad for indulging me!
