Preparing for Delivery

This is what I looked like Friday, April 2nd . . . DSCN2028

I spent the day doing a lot of walking on Home Depot’s dime.  That’s right, I worked 3 days before my due date.  Everyone thought I was crazy.  I decided since I was there, that I would offer great customer service by walking the aisles constantly (all the while hoping to induce labor).

Mom & Mickayla drove up Friday night.  They took Lily and me to the mall, and we walked and walked and walked.  Grandma did a good job spoiling Lily, and Lily loved every minute of it.  My contractions were closer together . . . and that was promising.

Saturday morning, I paced the living room and timed my contractions.  The contractions didn’t hurt, but they were close together.  Mom & Scott were afraid they would be delivering a baby at home, so I finally relented and let Scott drive me to the hospital.  After 1 hour, 3 nurses and a call to the doctor, they finally decided that they couldn’t make much sense out of my contractions (they were close together, but caused no pain) and that I should just go home.  Too bad Scott was so eager to have his son born that he had already called his family to say I was headed to the hospital.

Scott’s mom, Michael & Grandma Allen stopped by in hopes of seeing a new grandson before they caught their flight to Guatemala.  Grandma was disappointed to see a very pregnant me.

Easter morning came . . . Mickayla & Lily had so much fun looking for eggs together.

Dad came up for Easter dinner.  (Once again, a little disappointed that there wasn’t a grandson to greet.)  After a wonderful dinner, we went up to Mount Erie to see the tulips in the far distance.

It was freezing cold, so Dad & I made a “Lily sandwich.”  DSCN2041

Dad had to take Mickayla home, because her spring break was over.  The poor thing.  Mickayla was looking forward to meeting her new nephew as soon as he was born.  At least Mickayla put a lot of smiles on Lily’s face over the weekend.
