Monday . . . the due date arrives

I have to admit that 4 am is not my favorite hour of the day, but that was the hour I had to drag my very pregnant body out of bed to call the hospital and see if they had room for me to come in and be induced.  Lucky for me, they said yes!

The next 6 hours I spent hooked up to IVs, walking a little and wondering why I wasn’t feeling the contractions.  At 10 am, that all changed.  The doctor broke my water and the pain began.  By 10:30 I started listening to the wise counsel my husband was giving me.  Another patient at the hospital was scheduled for a C-section at 11:30 which meant that if I wanted an epidural, I would need to get it by 11:00. 

I am so glad I listened to him.  This is what I looked like for the next 1-1/2 hours. 

I was surprised when the nurse told me at 12:30 that I was ready to push and she called for the doctor to come.  The doctor was . . . let’s say quirky.  He was as chipper as could be.  He sang Happy Birthday as I pushed, and then gave him a Mohawk when he crowned. 

I didn’t have to push long.  At 12:51 pm, Isaac Jerry was born weighing 8 lbs 2 oz and 21 inches long.  He was born on his Grandpa Jerry’s birthday.  They let me hold him right away and I didn’t put him down for the next hour.  I only let Scott hold him for a few minutes.  (I need to work on sharing.)

You couldn’t find a prouder daddy than Scott.  He was in heaven having his two children in the same room.  Lily was so excited to come meet her baby brother . . .

 

 

When she listened to his heart, she said it sounded like drums.  Too cute!

Zeke is a wonderful baby.  He loves to cuddle and only fusses when he’s hungry, has a messy diaper or wants to be cuddled.  We’re so blessed to have him.
