I’ve been looking forward to the Vancouver, B.C. LDS Temple being built and dedicated. I really wanted to take Lily to the Open House so she could see what the temple is like. (Temples are sacred buildings that are open to the public to view prior to their dedication. After the dedication, the temple will be used by members of the church who are given special permission to perform ordinances there.)
I worried things wouldn’t work out for us to go, because I didn’t have a birth certificate for Zeke to get him across the border. Luckily, I told my delivery nurse, and she helped me know what papers to bring to the border.
Lily loved walking around the temple grounds. (She even loved running through the one muddy grass area, but that’s a different story and I’m grateful it happened after we had toured the temple and were heading home.)
Lily loved the special booties they had us put on (it’s to keep the temple clean). Her favorite part of the temple was the baptismal font, because “the cows [were] holding it on their backs.”
I don’t know if Lily will remember this experience, but Mom, Scott & I loved bringing her (& Zeke) to the temple.
The open house continues through the 24th of April. If you live close by, I highly recommend going, especially if you’ve ever wondered what an LDS temple is like or what purpose it serves.

When we were in Utah last summer we took the kids to the Oquirrh open house. It was a great experience and hopefully someday we'll get one in Bakersfield (I can hope right?). I'm glad you were able to go.
What a beautiful temple. Impressive that you were already up to such a trip, btw!
