Before any of you think this is going to be a sappy blog posting, let me put your minds at ease. It isn’t! I just wanted you all to know I love my husband, in case you forget as you read this post.
I knew when I married Scott that he was a huge basketball fan. I don’t think I fully comprehended how big of a basketball fan he was. I had an awakening the first year of our marriage. Scott would watch almost every televised NBA game and play any game of church basketball he could. I thought I had realized the extent of my husband’s love of “the game” . . . but I was wrong.
Two weeks ago, Lily showed an increased interested in “the game.” Scott instantly decided we needed a basketball hoop. This wasn’t something that could wait until we had a yard, or a driveway, or even a play room, we needed it now! I knew I was up against a losing battle, so I looked online and found a nice toddler basketball hoop that somehow I would find space for in the living room. I gave Scott clear instructions on what he was allowed to purchase, and then I went to work.
I came home to find this:
It stands taller than I do, and that’s at it’s shortest setting. (That’s right, it’s adjustable. Scott wanted to make sure our children could use this hoop for years to come.) I wouldn’t mind it if it was kept outside or in a playroom, but we don’t have either of those, so it’s kept in my dining room. And that’s not the look I was going for!
But Lily & Scott love it. Lily asks Scott to play basketball with her every day. She’s learned to shoot, and also to dunk (with Scott’s help). She’ll even shoot hoops by herself now. And Scott takes breaks from his homework to shoot a few hoops. (He’s kind enough to move the basketball hoop into the living room when he plays.)
So I can’t be mad . . . but do I need to be pleased? I think I’ll just look forward to when we move into a bigger place.

Well you have to love them! It is good that Lily seems to love it. This way she and her Dad can bond. Some day your living room and dining room will be something other than toys and then you will miss it.
ha ha. you have a good perspective Can. Good for you for not being mad... but I agree that you dont have to be pleased. :)
haha! That is great!
:-) laughing now but I probably would not if Dennis had this brilliant idea - glad he is more into cycling...
