I was fortunate enough to get invited to the BYU vs UW game this weekend. It was amazing being there! Much better than it would have been on TV. I lost my voice at the game from yelling so loud. Of course, being a BYU alumn, I had to root for BYU. The game was exciting from beginning to end. Neither team ever had a lead greater than one touchdown througout. And the game came down to the final 8 seconds. BYU had a 28-21 advantage. The Huskies had the ball on their own 3 yard line. Their QB then rushed into the endzone with 2 seconds to go, making it 28-27. But right after scoring the TD, the QB threw the ball up in the air in celebration of the late score, which according to NCAA rules is "Unsportsman-like Conduct." UW was assessed a 15 yard penalty on the extra point kick, which contributed to BYU's block on the Point After Touchdown kick attempt.
BYU, then swarmed the field in celebration of the block, as this now all but sealed the victory for the Cougars with 2 seconds remaining. It was such a fun game with such an emotional ending. It was too bad that it couldn't come without controversy from the Huskies point of view. But from the Cougars side, it seemed like justice. UW was getting seemingly every call in their favor all game long, including a no-call holding on their last drive, which basically was the reason that they were in the endzone to begin with.
With me at the game were my brother Shane (in red) and my nephew Dacian (little boy), my uncle Dick (in the center with hat and glasses), and cousin Jim (far right with phone in the ear).
