I had promised Lily a friend birthday party this year. She had been looking forward to it for months! Scott’s work kept hinting at different starting dates for him, which left me in a quandary when it came to scheduling her party. I decided to “play it safe” and have her party the Saturday after we moved out of our house.
Here we were, living with my parents (bless their hearts), I still hadn’t unpacked our suitcases, and I was feverishly trying to finalize the games for Lily’s party. I wanted it to be the perfect party. The ones you see pictures on people’s blogs. I wanted to use my cake decorating skills from the class I just took to decorate all Lily’s cupcakes. But let’s face it, it took a village to throw this party together!’
I was still finishing up game preparations when people started arriving. My mom and Mickayla were setting up the last of the decorations. While I started games with the kids in the backyard, Mom and Mickayla were decorating the cupcakes in the kitchen. (The kids had so much fun just playing in my parents’ yard, I wondered why I bothered planning games.)

Then we tried to pick apples for Maximo. That was a little harder than we anticipated. The apples were a little rubbery.
It wouldn’t be a Rapunzel party without a frying pan. We tried to break the piñata open with our frying pan. It took quite a few good swings, but they managed. We also decorated crowns.
And then we had cupcakes, ice cream and presents.
Lily had so much fun with all her friends and cousins. She felt so loved! (That made all the chaos and stress worth it.)

It was such a fun party and everything was beautiful. I could tell a lot of work went into every detail and you'd done so much prior to all this and pregnant. Glad my kids got to play a little bit and celebrate Lily before you guys left. Take care.
