General Conference

Twice a year, our church leaders address members across the world. I love listening to their words of warning and counsel. (I’m so grateful we can hear it in the comfort of our own home, instead of having to travel all the way to Salt Lake City.)

This year, I was curious to see what themes our leaders felt were the most important to talk about. I kept track of what I thought the theme was for each talk, and then created a word cloud. (This is in no way perfect, but I enjoyed having a way to visualize their words.)

Cloud 1

Its hard to commit all 12 hours of instruction to heart in one weekend. I’m grateful that I can relisten to it, and reread their words in the coming months.

The highlight of Conference for me is when I got goose bumps as I heard President Monson’s announcement that men can now serve a mission at 18 years old, and women at 19 years old! I know I would have happily served a mission at 19 if that had been the policy back then. (It would have made a huge difference in my life, too.) I know this announcement is inspired of God!
