Life has been so crazy . . . but in a very good way. I apologize for the blogging hiatus. Life is soon going to be much, much better!
In April, we joined many of Scott’s aunts, uncles, cousins, etc for a 10K run in Vancouver. We knew about this for three months. Scott did a great job training for the run. I on the other hand made some very feeble attempts at training. But let’s face it. I am NOT A RUNNER! And running with a stroller with two kids in it at a fast pace about killed me. I honestly wanted to lay on the road and let a car run over me. I told my boss and coworkers that I was going to die.
We had so much fun that weekend. We went to the aquarium . . . the Kid Cove play area was naturally their favorite part. They moved the play area to the underwater dolphin observation area. The kids loved moving a stuffed dolphin by the glass and seeing the real dolphins mimic those motions.
Stanley Park . . .
the Suspension Bridge . . .
But the real reason for the weekend trip was the run. Here’s the group before the run . . .
We all ran at our own pace. I was surprised how many people were there and how hard it was to maneuver around everyone (especially with a double wide stroller).
I was lucky enough to run almost the entire race with Scott’s cousin, Kim. It was great to have someone run the same pace as me, and have someone to talk with. Lily and Zeke fell asleep around the 3K mark and slept until the 8K mark. That made it easier for me to focus on running. When they woke up, Kim helped push the stroller while I ran ahead to give the kids snacks and toys. She also took over pushing the stroller when we were going up a really steep hill. We had a great time!
Scott finished the race in just over an hour.
I finished in just over an hour and a half.
Scott’s 6 year old nephew ran the whole way!
Scott’s mom and two sisters.
It was so much fun, and not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. Perhaps, I could be talked in to running it again.
