This post is long overdue . . .
Because I had just transferred stores, I didn’t feel comfortable asking for time off. That meant that I worked the late shift on Scott’s birthday. I wanted Scott to feel loved and appreciated. So I did what I do best: celebrate a birthday on multiple days.
It started with dinner at Red Robin, two days before the big day. I managed to tell the waitress about Scott’s birthday when he had stepped away from the table, so he was surprised when they came over and sang Happy Birthday to him. (He wasn’t impressed when they announced he was turning “21.”)
For Scott’s actual birthday, I made him breakfast. Lily was excited to celebrate her dad’s birthday. She helped me wrap his presents, and then proudly announced that they were “books” when Scott asked, “What is it?” She also wanted to dress up for breakfast . . .
That night, Scott’s brother (Shane) and his family took Scott, Lily & Zeke out to dinner.
And lastly, we celebrated a few days later with all of my family (and Shane & his family), where Scott was showered in gifts (including having the upstairs decorated just for him by Mickayla).
(Lily insisted on sitting in her booster seat for the group picture.)
We love you, Scott!
