The jokes on me

I'm realizing more and more each day how big the Lord's sense of humor is. Scott got a call from the 2nd counselor in the bishopric, asking to meet with him during church. That gave me two days to torture Scott with all the different possibilities of callings he could receive. I was really enjoying myself! All through Sacrament, I leaned over and added to my list: Gospel Doctrine Instructor, Elder's Quorum Teacher, Sunbeam Teacher, etc.

When Brother Wilcox called him out of Sunday School, I sat quite comfortable. I wondered which calling Scott would receive. When Scott came back and told me Brother Wilcox wanted to talk to me, I was puzzled. I figured Scott was called into the Elder's Quorum or Young Men's Presidency, and they wanted to ask for my support. Boy was I in for a surprize!

Brother Wilcox began by asking how I was doing, and then if I was "with child!" I raised my eyebrow at that one. He then explained they were extending a calling to me, not Scott. If I was pregnant (which I'm not in case you're wondering), they would only have me serve for a six months. The interview was quite unique. He asked me about my schedule, my health, my stress level. He assured me he would be there to help me if I had any questions. I was really wondering what the calling was! Then he asked me to be in the Primary!

I am now the 2nd Counselor in the Primary Presidency. I'm in charge of Junior Primary (I already love those kids, even when they're putting plastic Easter eggs up their pants, laying on three chairs, or poking me with miscellaneous objects). I also get to write the Sacrament Program for the Primary! The 1st Counselor and Secretary are wonderful (I still haven't met the President). What an adventure!

I hope you enjoy it. I really liked being in the Primary Presidency. There's such a variety of duties that it's good for a borderline ADD person like me. Especially because you don't have to sit there for those 2 hours. There's always an excuse to walk around.
