Scott’s aunt and uncle have a tradition of participating in the Vancouver 10k Sun Run. Last year, they invited the rest of the family to join them. It was so much fun, that we decided to do it again this year. (A big thank you to Scott’s cousin, Joseph, who took on the task of arranging hotel rooms, and getting all of us to the right place at the right time.)
My doctor said I could walk the 10k if someone walked with me, but I wasn’t allowed to jog this year. Nor was I allowed to push the kids in the stroller. That posed a slight problem of what we do with the kids. (Scott wanted to run the race to see if he could beat his time from last year. The kids require periodic stops and delays.) Luckily, Scott’s mom and stepdad offered to push the stroller and walk with me the whole way.
My sister-in-law leant me her jogging stroller, which is easier to maneuver in crowds. It was great! Both kids ended up sleeping through almost half the race again this year. Near the end of the race, Zeke was getting restless, so Lily reached forward and held his hand. It was so cute to see them holding hands. I wish I had got a picture of it, because it was so sweet. It was just what Zeke needed to help him relax until the race ended.
It has been so much fun participating these last two years. It was sad realizing we won’t be able to make it to the race next year. We’ll have to find a race in Dallas we can participate in.
