Bunk Beds

We made a few changes to our house over the past few months. The first major change happened back in December. My parents bought us a bunk bed for Christmas. (Even though most people would consider this a gift for the kids, it was actually for Scott and me. The bunk bed made it where the office could move out of the freezing cold garage and into the house.)

Zeke took a few weeks to get used to his new sleeping arrangements. It was a big change for him to go from sleeping in a crib (that he could easily crawl in and out of) into a big boy bed in the same room as his sister. He kept wanting to turn the light on or crawl up to Lily’s bed in the middle of the night. We ended up taking the light bulbs out of the light fixture (we use torcher lamps instead) and removing the ladder from the bunk bed.

I also had to figure out the bedding for Zeke. I wanted it to compliment Lily’s very girly bedspread, but still be masculine and work with the airplane theme I had planned for Zeke. I found this cute material online and just had to have it.

Unfortunately, no one had enough material. It took me a month to locate someone who had enough to do one side of the comforter (the other side is solid blue). It took me another month to get around to sewing it (I also hand tied it so the duvet filling won’t move around). But in the end, I’m pleased with the results, and happy to report that Zeke sleeps through the night once more.

So cute! Breah has not made the transition to big girl bed yet. Glad Zeke's went relatively smoothly.

FUN! We tried having Sophie and JJ share a room when we first moved to Germany but it didn't go over so well.
