If I Were An Eagle Scout . . .

I would definately have been more prepared for last night. I would have had a full tank of gas, a car charger for my cell phone, food, water, and a blanket. (If I was McGyver, I also would have had a roll of duct tape.)

Instead, I learned how to car ice skate. It took me 11-1/2 hours to get home from work. The freeway was a parking lot. Cars were abandoned on both sides of the road, as well as in freeway lanes. Roads were closed, and some freeway on and off ramps were closed. I had to turn my car off whenever traffic wasn't moving (it would move 10 feet every 5 or so minutes) so I could conserve gas. The last part of my journey required me to slide my car down a curved off-ramp. It was so scary!

Luckily, I made it unscathed. Poor Scott, Mom & Dad; they stayed up until they knew I was safely home. My cell phone died before I got home, so they had to trust that everything would be okay. I was able to make it to a gas station, and navigate gradual hills. I parked my car a block from my house.

It was 4:45 am (I got off work at 5:00 pm) when I finally got home. I was so hungry, exhausted, and in desperate need of a bathroom!

I am so thankful for cell phones. It made a big difference being able to call her and check on her. Not knowing how she was doing would have been more than any of us could stand.

Such a nightmare!!!!!!!!! I'm glad to hear you arrived home safe without crashing or anything (well, I guess while standing still on the highway there is not too much to crash into after all).

I would have been completely helpless in such a situation.

Hope you did not get sick after that. Sounds like a big cold would be the minimum to suffer from.

Guess a blanket is a standard item in your trunk from now on?
